About

For the living, change is constant and death is certain. In this truth one could find comfort, crippling fear, or the courage to embrace the stuff of nightmares.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I'm a child at heart, fascinated by the supernatural, transfixed by the dark and fantastical. I use acrylic, spray art, collage, and digital design to create heavy-bodied, highly stylized characters. Many pieces feature splatter and brush techniques that capture the carefree and fleeting nature of youth.

GET TO KNOW THE ARTIST

Familial loss, nomadic living, and horror films rocked the foundation of  my formative years. As a child, I was plagued by nightmares that inspired me to create images equally suspenseful. From chaos came depression, and drawing provided consistency. As it happens, B-Rad my brother, is also an artist and has proved to be one of the most influential people in my life.

Though I'm primarily a visual artist, my collaborations include short films, musical projects, and a theatrical presentation on Halloween to celebrate all that is SPOOKY!

In the past I've planned, organized, promoted, and hosted fundraisers for suicide prevention programs, mental health awareness, at risk youth, and art education. It's my way of bringing light to the darker aspects of living. Art can be a constructive outlet; for me, it was necessary. This is the sentiment drives me to share with others. Everyday, do what you can to create and inspire!

Born in California, raised in Wagoner, Oklahoma, Ruben now resides in Everett, WA as a Freelance Artist. He is no stranger to galleries, among the most notable include STATIX, True Love Art Gallery, Black Lab Art Gallery, Happy Time Apocalypse of the Greenwood Art Collective, Zamarama Gallery.
